So behältst Du Deine Sommerbräune länger

This way you can keep your summer tan longer

It is one of the most beautiful memories of the warm days: sun-tanned skin. It's just a shame that it always seems to fade far too quickly. We have therefore put together a few tips for you so that you can enjoy your summer tan for as long as possible.

Sustainable sunbathing

Yes, you read that right: you can use your tanning method to ensure that your sun-kissed skin tone lasts as long as possible. This starts with the choice of your sun protection. A higher sun protection factor ensures that your tan becomes deep and even.

Not to mention the fact that unprotected sun exposure increases the risk of skin cancer. For this reason, anyone who really wants to tan (we recommend direct sun, especially in midsummer, so it's a good idea to avoid it) should ONLY do so in the shade, if at all - and use sun protection with a suitable sun protection factor.

Provide moisture

The reason why our skin turns brown when exposed to sunlight is actually nothing more than a protective mechanism. The UV rays penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and thus produce the pigment melanin, which forms a kind of protective layer over the cell nucleus. The result: the skin turns brown.

Ideally, use after-sun care immediately after your stay in the sun and continue to apply cream regularly for the next few weeks.
Active ingredients such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, shea butter and jojoba oil are particularly helpful.

Showers – preferably short and lukewarm

You should avoid hot and long showers if possible, as they dry out your skin and it would try to shed the top stratum corneum and therefore your tan more quickly. It is therefore better to limit yourself to shorter showers with lukewarm water. You should avoid full baths completely. Also make sure not to rub your skin dry with a towel after washing, but rather to dab it. Afterwards, apply plenty of cream to your body.

Avoid peelings

We love peels! The task of a peeling is to remove excess skin cells from the top layer of skin. A great thing in itself. Unfortunately, this also means that you would lose your tanned skin more quickly. If nothing helps: cheat
At some point, even the best tips and tricks are unfortunately a wasted effort: the beloved summer tan slowly says goodbye. In order to delay the pain of saying goodbye a little longer, it is completely legitimate to cheat a little and give your complexion a little more color with a few small tools.

On the one hand, by wearing the right colors, such as white, you can make your skin look a little more summery. In addition, retailers now offer numerous care products such as body or facial lotions that contain self-tanning agents or have a tanning effect. We strongly advise against using a solarium, as it is extremely damaging to your skin. At the end of the day, you should love your skin and your skin type because every skin color, light or dark, is beautiful.
