Love your body, love yourself

Love your body, love yourself

The buzzword “body positivity” has been appearing more and more frequently in the media recently. We can also see what we think is a positive change within the fashion and beauty industry: away from supposedly “classic” (and sometimes unrealistic) beauty ideals, towards the presentation of people of all facets, be it based on their measurements, their skin type or any other flaw.

We love that! This topic is very important to us because we also believe that the classic beauty world has been giving us a unrealistic image of beauty for a long time and we want to counteract this with our work. But even if we are on the right track, there is still a lot to do in this regard. For example, did you know that almost 70 percent of all men and women are dissatisfied with their bodies? In most cases, this is due to the image anchored in our heads of what we should look like. The body positivity movement wants to work against this to make it easier to love your body and yourself. With this article we want to give you a few tips and suggestions that you can use to constantly remind yourself that you should love your body and not fight against it.

  1. Focus on the things you like about yourself

Sure, we all have something that we don't like about ourselves. Be it the 5 kilos too much, the height or the shape of the nose. But: Too often we focus on what bothers us about ourselves. As humans, we tend to look for inner dissatisfaction and overlook the good. So why not focus on what we like about ourselves? What do you find particularly beautiful about your body? Do you perhaps have particularly beautiful eyes or a captivating laugh? Do you like your full head of hair or the way you look when you're happy? Try to counteract every negative thought that comes up about your body with a positive one.

  1. Stop comparing yourself to others

It's like at work, school or sports. No matter how good you are at what you do, there is always someone somewhere who can do it better than you. Once you start comparing yourself to others, you can only lose out in the long run. We are all unique in our own way, no matter our size, weight or shape. You are you. As wonderful, unique and wonderful as you are. Always remember: no one is like you.

  1. Surround yourself with a positive environment

There are things or people that bring us down mentally. People who constantly have to make derogatory comments about other people's appearance. Certain channels on social media that convey a false image of THE ideal of beauty, as well as magazines, film and television.

Detach yourself from what is not good for you and surround yourself with people and things that do not disturb your self-love, but rather tend to promote it and accept you as you are.
