Was sind Komedonen?

What are comedones?

What are comedones? Comedones is the technical term for blackheads, the small, black dots that can form not only on the face but also on the back. On the face, the T-zone (i.e. nose, cheek) and chin are usually affected. Most people want to get rid of blackheads quickly, but what's the best way to do it? In order to answer this question, you first have to understand what exactly they are and why they arise!

How do the annoying black dots form?

If you look at the matter objectively, the black dots are a blockage of the sebaceous glands. Blackheads can be annoying, but those who squeeze them usually notice that they come back quickly and often even bring pimples with them. Blackheads occur when the pores in the skin are narrowed or even completely closed. Sometimes the skin in these areas is calloused or dirty. The skin fat can then no longer escape as easily and a so-called plug is created.

The black color of the blackhead occurs where the pigment melanin reacts with oxygen. A blackhead is not, as many people think, dirt. However, bacteria and dirt may collect around the blackhead, which can then lead to inflammation. In this case, a pimple may appear.

Young people are mostly affected by blackheads and pimples because their sebaceous glands often overproduce. But adults can also suffer from black dots at any age.

What types of blackheads are there?

There are two types of blackheads: open and closed. But what is the difference? On the surface of the skin, these two types differ in color. Open blackheads have a dark spot, closed ones have a whitish spot.

Closed blackheads are a duct that becomes blocked. A plug is created at the exit of the skin pore, through which the exit of the canal is completely sealed. These blackheads often become inflamed. With open blackheads, you can usually see the opening of the pores quite clearly. The color is usually yellowish or appears as closed, white nodules.

How to remove?

If you want to remove blackheads, you should be careful. It's best not to let them happen in the first place, if possible. This can be done through a healthy diet and by keeping the openings of the pores clear and clean. But this is not always so easy, as the formation of blackheads is also influenced by hormones.

Blackheads can be well expressed by a beautician at regular intervals. You shouldn't necessarily do this alone as the skin can quickly become inflamed. Fruit acid peels can also help improve the complexion.

Short Summary

We are all affected by blackheads from time to time. The reason for this is the skin's sebum production. The fat can no longer reach the surface and the pore channels become clogged. If you want to win the battle against small black or white dots, you should visit a beautician regularly and eat a healthy diet. You should not try to squeeze the points yourself, as this can end up causing severe inflammation and redness.
