Ayurveda: Brings your life into balance

You have probably heard of Ayurveda before. It would be strange if not, after all, it is the oldest healing art in the world. With its holistic system, it aims to bring body, mind and soul into balance and thus lead to a happier and healthier life. Doesn't sound bad, does it? We want to give you a little insight.

The science of life

Literally translated, Ayurveda means exactly that: the knowledge (Veda) of life (Ayus). It not only focuses on specific individual measures, but also on holistic health theory, which - adapted to the individual constitution of each individual - includes nutrition, massages, treatments, exercise and relaxation exercises. If you want to put it that way, it is a certain way of life that has many followers, especially in Asian countries such as India or Sri Lanka.

Tell me your dosha and I'll tell you what you need

In Ayurveda we speak of the five major elements that form the basis of the teaching: ether, fire, water, air and earth. All of these elements are part of our being and are expressed to different degrees in each of us. Depending on the constellation and type of expression of the elements, the elements combine to form three basic energies, the doshas.

Vata (air and ether)

Pitta (Fire and Water)

Kapha (earth and water)

According to Ayurvedic teaching, these three doshas, ​​depending on their occurrence, shape our personality, our appearance and our characteristics. There can only be one dosha predominant, such as a pure Kapha type, but there can also be mixtures of two or three doshas, ​​such as a Vata-Pitta-Kapha type. People for whom Vata predominates are usually petite, slim and agile, are always on the move, but still tend to feel cold. They are creative, cheerful and like to move. People of this type are more prone to digestive and sleep disorders. Pitta types impress with their athletic build, have warm skin and are physically active. You have a strong will and a lot of determination and are particularly suitable for leadership tasks. People of this type often suffer from infections and skin diseases. People who have a strong Kapha are usually strongly built, have great endurance and muscular strength, but at the same time tend to be sluggish and listless - and therefore often overweight. People of this type have a big heart and are patient. You are prone to colds and depression.

Living according to the doshas

Ayurvedic teaching sees itself as a holistic system that includes various elements: massages and cleansing techniques, nutrition, yoga, herbal medicine. The respective measures are adapted to the dosha constellations. For example, Kapha types are said to prefer different foods than Pitta types. The primary goal is to use all of these elements to bring body and soul into harmony.
